The Friendship of Women, Inc. (FOW) maintains a clear vision that we are, above all,
a social change agency committed to ending violence against batteredwomen, men
and their children in all of the Cameron County communities

Towards this end, we continue to offer concrete resources to victims of battering which give themthe best possible chances of breaking the cycle of violence for themselves and their children. The programmatic focus of the agency reaches beyond the provision of counseling
and shelter to embrace the prevention and interruption of violence in the wider community.
We join with all parts of the community in mutual strategies to eradicate family violence.

We challenge systems and other forms of power inequity, which believe are the root causes of violence. We celebrate the diversity of the people we serve and embrace their needs in our programs and services. We reflect and honor diversity in all parts of our organization.

We recognize the pain and tragic costs of family violence. We employ a positive and motivating image to portray safety as well as the strength of family free from abuse and violence.

The organizational culture supports openness, risk-taking, and self-evaluation in order to promotelearning and growth as a social agency, in our staff, and by our clients. We
